FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11/19/06
Oh So Daunting leads a contentious field in the $91,405 LQHBA Futurity Consolation at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino
Opelousas, Louisiana –Oh So Daunting, the only stakes winner in the field by virtue of his upset victory in the LQHBA Sales Futurity last month, has been installed as the 5/2 morning-line favorite against eight other Louisiana bred two-year-olds going 400 yards in the $91,405 LQHBA Futurity Consolation this Friday evening at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. Owned by Marty Acheson, Oh So Daunting was overlooked by the public when he defeated odds/on favorite Bottle of Shine by a head in the LQHBA Sales Futurity on October 7. Sent off at odds of 16/1 that night, he rewarded his backers with a $34.60 win mutuel. Michael Phillips picks up the mount on the son of Daunting Pleasure for trainer Kenny Roberts. One unusual aspect of the consolation is that the majority of entrants (6) won their respective trial. With more than 150 entrants in the 16 LQHBA trials, the action was heated and ultra competitive thru out with the difference between making either the final or the consolation less than .055 seconds. To illustrate just how wide open and evenly matched this event is, My King Jewel, who just missed making the final by 002 of a second, won his trial and is listed at odds of 10/1. MCM Dozen Dasher & Kittys Fast Dash, both come-from-behind winners in their trial are the only other contestants in this field with stakes placings and figure prominently. MCM Dozen Dasher, a gelded son of Some Dasher, is trained by Chad Hassenpflug and owned by M. C. Morris. Veteran jockey Nickey Laws will ride. Kitty’s Fast Dash, the only filly in the field, is a daughter of Heza Fast Dasher. In a surprise move, Danny Lavergne, who qualified Oh So Daunting and was aboard him in all four of his career victories, has opted to ride Kitty’s Fast Dash for owners Julie & Bill Pilgrim and trainer Kenny Roberts. Carded as the 9th race on Friday’s eleven-race program, the approximate post time is 9:16 pm central time. Here is the field in program order with odds for the $91,405 LQHBA Futurity Consolation to be run at Evangeline Downs on Friday, November 24. 2006.
Racing this Holiday week, which is the final week of the 2006 Fall Quarter Horse Season will be conducted Wednesday through Saturday with a post time of 6:20 p.m. central time on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.
