Opelousas, Louisiana –Streakin Amber, unbeaten and untested in three starts looms a solid favorite against nine other two-year-olds going 400 yards in the $119,500 Evangeline Futurity on Saturday evening at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Owned by Arnold Trahan, Streakin Amber has scored daylight victories in each of her three career outings while seemingly not asked for her best. Although she will be meeting stakes competition for the first time , her trial victory in 20.240 seconds was more than .11 of a second faster than any other entrant. Trained by Heath Taylor, she is just one of three that the nationally respected horsemen will saddle in this event, the Louisiana bred daughter of Streakin La Jolla drew the outside post position 10 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz.

Shakeatea & McM Petfly, wire-to-wire winners of the other two trials, along with Dee Edge & Allaboard Austin, all are talented youngsters capable of upsetting the top pick on their best performance. Shakeatea, who scored his third career victory in six starts will be ridden by Alfonso Lujan for trainer Janet Van Bebber and owner Pete Scarmardo, while McM Petfly recorded his initial win in his trial will be ridden by veteran Nickey Laws for trainer Bobby Martinez and owner D. Gonzalez and E. Quintanilla.

Carded as the 9th race on Saturday’s eleven-race program, the approximate post time is 9:16 pm central time.
