Oh So Daunting, Bottle of Shine top LQHBA Futurity trials at Evangeline Downs

Opelousas, Louisiana –Oh So Daunting & Bottle of Shine, one-two finishers in the recent LQHBA Sales Futurity are just two of the 152 Louisiana Breds two-year-olds entered in the 16 trials to the Grade I, $517,964 LQHBA Futurity at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino on Saturday evening, November 4.

Set at the distance of 400 yards, each trial will have a purse of $13,500 with the horses producing the ten fastest running times advancing to the final which will be the first ever race in the history of Evangeline Downs worth more than a half-million dollars to be run on Saturday, November 25, the closing night of the 2006 fall quarter horse meet. The next ten fastest will run in the consolation worth $91,405.

Oh So Daunting, a perfect two-for-two at Evangeline Downs, has been installed as the 5/2 morning-line favorite in trial #9. Danny Lavergne, the current leading rider at the Opelousas, La. oval has the mount aboard the gelded son of Daunting Presence for owner Marty Acheson and trainer Kenny Roberts. Bottle of Shine, who finished a close second behind Oh So Daunting despite lugging in during the late stages in the LQHBA Sales Futurity is expected to be a short price in the seventh trial to record his fifth career win for owner Sylvia Pitman and trainer John Buchanan. Juan Vazquez will ride the altered son of First to Shine.

Lights Out Lidge, Call Me Jess Love, This Gals Toasted, & Toast To My Mon are all stakes winners themselves and figure prominently in their respective trials.

With 16 races instead of the usual 11, Evangeline Downs will start at 5:00 pm central time instead of the regular first post of 6:20 pm.

Racing continues on a four evening a week schedule, Wed thru Sat with a first post of 6:20 p.m. central time.
