Opelousas, Louisiana –Allyouneedislove ($10.00) put away early leader My Seperatist, then had more than enough left late to hold off the late charge of race favorite Streakin Patriot to win the $63,650 Evangeline Downs Derby at the South Central Louisiana oval on Saturday evening.

The victory was her initial in a stakes race and third of the year.

Streakin Patriot, who earned almost $300,000 in a sensational two-year-old campaign, rallied strongly in the final 150 yards but was unable to catch the winner. The winning time was 20.22 for the 400 yard derby for three-year-olds on a track labeled fast.

Third and fourth place finishers Jess Sin Tacha & Meet the World rallied late to finish just in front of My Seperatist, with MJP Loop, Streakin Duchess, Faith and Courage, Holland Hollywood, and Oro La Jolla rounding out the order of finish.

Winning jockey Danny Lavergne was confident as the filly broke right with the leaders. At mid-stretch I was thinking, “You guys better have your running shoes on because I know this girl is a strong finisher.”

Allyouneedislove, a Louisiana bred daughter of Feature Mr Jess, earned $31,825 and increased her lifetime earnings to $72,925 with her fourth win in ten career starts. Trained by Kenny Roberts, she is owned and was bred by Dutch, Clayton, & John Jumonville III.

Racing continues on a Wednesday through Saturday schedule with a post time of 6:20 p.m. each evening.
