Ten-Cent Superfecta added to wagering lineup at Evangeline Downs

Opelousas, Louisiana –Evangeline Downs fans will have the chance to test out a new wager when the South-Central Louisiana track opens the 2007 spring/summer meeting Wednesday, April 4.

The 10-cent Superfecta will allow patrons to make more multiple wagers on what is one of the most popular bets offered. Previously, the minimum base bet on the Superfecta at Evangeline Downs was $1. The Superfecta, in which you have to pick the first four finishers in exact order can and often produces payoffs in the five-figure range. David A. Yount, Executive Director of Racing Operations stated “With our exciting brand of racing featuring full fields, many with 14 runners, we believe this new wager will not only be attractive to our customers but also a benefit to them as well.” The Superfecta will be offered on all races at Evangeline Downs with eight or more betting interests.

In addition to the ten-cent Superfecta, Evangeline Downs will once again offer a full complement of exotic wagers on all races including Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, and Rolling Pick-Three’s. There will also be an early and late double starting with the first and the next to last races, as well as a Pick-Four which will be contested on the night’s final four events. All exotic wagers with the exceptions of the Superfecta will have a $1 minimum.

Racing for the 89-evening meet will once again be conducted on a four-evening a week schedule, Wednesday through Saturday with a first post of 6:20 p.m. Central Time. There will also be a special holiday program on Monday, September 3, Labor Day.

PICK-THREE RULE CHANGES

Beginning with the new season, Evangeline Downs will operate under new rules for our Pick 3 wagers.

At a recent meeting, the Louisiana State Racing Commission adopted changes to Title 35, Part XIII, Chapter 115, governing the rules of the Pick 3 wager, dealing specifically with scratches.

With the beginning of the new meet, when a selection is scratched from any leg of the Pick-3 prior to the first leg of the wager, all tickets with that selection shall be refunded.

If a selection(s) is scratched from the second and/or third leg of the wager after the start of the first leg, a consolation Pick 3 shall be paid to those tickets with two winners and the scratched selection(s) from the second and/or third leg.
